It sounds expensive. It is not anymore.
Parts printed in thermoplastic by small to midsize enterprises and hobbyists are limited by their low strength and are therefore typically restricted to low-level prototypes or lower-specification end parts. Additionally, outsourcing these parts to be manufactured is not a realistic option for such users.
Some good news, now: Since our conception in January of 2023, Fibyr has been developing its flagship product: an upgrade package for making your consumer-level FDM 3D printer fully compatible with our innovative continuous carbon fiber-infused thermoplastic (CCF), rapidly multiplying the strength of parts at least 2X.
The Fibyr package will feature the following:
A modified printhead
3D printer firmware update
Fibyr's slicer software
Sample of our carbon fiber filament
We're projecting a price point of $300 to $500, which makes this advantageous technology highly accessible to all 3D printing power users.
